National News: The suicide case of Haryana IPS officer Y Puran Kumar has taken a new turn. An FIR has now been registered against his IAS wife, P Amneet Kumar, and three others. The FIR, filed at Rohtak Sadar police station, also names Puran’s gunman Sushil Kumar, Bathinda Rural MLA Amit Ratn, who is Puran’s brother-in-law, and another person.

ASI’s suicide triggers investigation

The FIR came soon after ASI Sandeep Lathar shot himself with his service revolver in his uncle’s field house. Before his death, he left behind a video message and a four-page suicide note. In both, he made serious allegations of corruption against late IPS officer Puran Kumar, his IAS wife, and their associates, accusing them of running extortion rackets.

Corruption charges in suicide note

In his final message, Sandeep claimed that Puran Kumar, his IAS wife, and MLA brother-in-law were involved in massive corruption. He alleged they collected money through illegal means with the help of other officials. Sandeep’s accusations shook the police department, as he was known for cracking several high-profile cybercrime cases in Rohtak.

Background of ASI Sandeep Lathar

Sandeep Lathar, originally from Jind’s Julana, was serving in Rohtak’s cyber cell. He had earned respect for solving critical cases and was seen as a committed officer. His sudden death raised questions inside the police force. His suicide has now brought renewed focus on the allegations of corruption involving senior officers and political figures, making the case highly sensitive.

IPS Puran’s suicide adds pressure

This twist follows IPS officer Puran Kumar’s own suicide on October 7 at his Chandigarh residence. His death shocked the state police service and triggered a special investigation. The SIT had been questioning several police officers, including Sandeep, in connection with Puran’s case. Now, with Sandeep’s suicide, the probe has widened, drawing in family and political names.

MLA and family members implicated

Among those named in the FIR is Bathinda Rural MLA Amit Ratn, who is the brother-in-law of the late IPS officer. The inclusion of an elected leader in the case has created political shockwaves. Critics say the allegations point to a nexus of power and corruption. Officials confirmed that weapons, financial links, and other evidence will be examined in detail.

State government faces tough questions

With over two high-profile suicides linked within weeks, the Haryana government faces sharp criticism over internal corruption and police morale. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has called it a decisive phase, promising no one will be spared if found guilty. The case has now turned into a test of accountability, pitting law enforcement against its own leadership.
